Our mission is to provide Zero Harm environments for inmates, patients, and staff.

At AL Technical Services, our primary goal is to create safe environments that promote zero harm for inmates, patients, and staff.

Unfortunately, self-harm is an increasing problem faced by correctional and medical facilities worldwide. According to a recent report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the suicide rate within facilities in the United States alone has increased by over 25 percent from 1999 to 2016, with 54 percent of those who died by suicide in that period not suffering from a mental health condition. Similar increases have been observed in most OECD countries, and asphyxia caused by ligature-related risks is the leading cause of death by suicide in institutions.

Beyond the tragic loss of life, suicide incidents have a detrimental effect on the general mental health of inmates or patients, tarnish the reputation of institutions, place an undue burden on staff to continuously monitor individuals, and come with significant costs associated with litigation and fines for wrongful death.

To address this issue, we provide specialised anti-ligature products, certification of anti-ligature and institutional safety systems, and consulting services to help institutions develop policies and identify areas of improvement. Our products and services undergo rigorous quality control measures, external auditing, and testing to ensure that they meet or exceed current standards.
